Tron: Evolution, the upcoming action-adventure tie-in video game for the film Tron: Legacy will be released for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS platforms on December 7, 2010.
Tron: Evolution serves as a prequel to Tron: Legacy, Disney's 3D high-tech adventure set to hit theaters worldwide December 17, 2010 in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D. Tron: Evolution conveys the story of a series of seismic events within the Tron mythos and features integral characters from the films set inside a visually-stunning cyber universe.
The game features an epic adventure across a massive digital grid filled with high-mobility disc-based combat and advanced light cycles. Players will control a program created by Jeff Bridges' Kevin Flynn and help him uncover a conspiracy deep within the Tron world. The third-person action game will also reference the first film and explain the events that lead to Kevin Flynn's imprisonment inside the Tron universe.
The game will also aim to show how the Tron universe has progressed through the years, with Olivia Wilde reprising her role as "Quorra", and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as "Tron".
Joining Wilde and Boxleitner as voices in the TRON: Evolution video games will be Jensen Ackles (Gibson), James Frain, John Glover (Abraxas), Nolan North (Behemoth, Sentries and Blaze), Kari Wahlgren (Radia), Robin Atkin Downes (Kalev), Terrence A. Carson (Calchas), and Fred Tatasciore (Kevin Flynn, Clu and Bosh). Diane Michelle, Yuri Lowenthal, and Laura Bailey also provide voice audio for the game.
The film is scored by Daft Punk, and while there are a few tracks used from Daft Punk's score, the majority of the music is composed by Sascha Dikiciyan (aka Sonic Mayhem) and Cris Velasco (God of War).
TRON: Evolution and TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids will be available on December 7 in North America for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Wii™ home console, Games for Windows - LIVE, Nintendo DS™, and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. In addition, TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids for Wii will include competitive four-player mini games for the entire family.
